Which is the best agp video card for HW T&L (Hardware accelerated Transform & Lighting) games ?

I would go for the XfX 7900 Nvidia card - That's what I've got|||Currently. There are now AGP versions of the ATI Radeon 2400 and 2600. Try looking about it on the internet. :)|||nvida at lease 7200

Whats the best AGP video card on the market?

The best AGP video card is the Radeon HD 3850, which has practically disappeared from retail channels. The Radeon HD 4670 has almost identical performance and is the best card that's readily available.



However, for computers with AGP slots the best course of action is usually a motherboard upgrade (or new computer, since most systems with AGP slots have weak CPUs by today's standards).



For the cost of an AGP Radeon 4670, you could buy a motherboard with a PCI-Express x16 slot along with a PCI-E version of the 4670 which performs better. Having a PCI-Express x16 slot also means better cards like the GeForce GT240, Radeon 5670, GTS 450 etc become options.



Of course if you have a brand-name computer like Dell or HP, then a motherboard upgrade isn't possible without buying a new copy of Windows.



Anyway, the Radeon 3850 if you can find one, or the 4670... those are the two best AGP cards. Nvidia abandoned the AGP market years ago and doesn't have anything comparable. None of their series 8 or later GeForce cards were ever manufactured in AGP.|||hi mate

allthough the agp bus has largely been replaced by the pci-express x16 bus there are still some agp cards around and these are mainly radeon based cards

the best current agp card is the "Sapphire ATi Radeon HD 3850 512MB GDDR3 AGP DVI Retail Graphics Card"( http://www.pcupgrade.co.uk/productdetail… ) which is based around a 256bit memory interface and 512mb of gddr3 memory clocked at 1650mhz ddr effective..... theres also a 650mhz core clock and 640 stream processors..... it also supports direct x 10.1 and pixel and shader model 4.1

in terms of performance its a pretty good card... i owned the same card around 3 years ago and it would run all the games i ran ..... even running crysis it managed a 23fps frame rate running on medium...( 1280x1024 )

another popular agp card is the "HIS ATI Radeon HD 4670 ICEQ 1024MB DDR3 HDMI AGP Graphics Card"( http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduc… ) ... however this uses a 128bit memory interface which does affect the performance at higher resolutions... however its 750mhz core clock and 1gb of gddr3 memory clocked at 1600mhz makes this a capable card that will run modern games at decent detail

however if possible i would still go with the Sapphire ATi Radeon HD 3850 mainly due to the superior 256bit memory interface,however you do need a 450w power supply with 24A on the +12v rail ....

there are other agp cards such as the geforce 6200 and radeon HD4350 however these are pretty slow and are not ideal for gaming...

If you're trying to bring life back to an old system, a new video card should do the trick. However, can you post what kind of processor you have? Some processors may limit the potential of some video cards. And make sure youre power supply can handle the power hungry 3850.



Personal experience: I knew my old AGP desktop couldn't handle a powerful new card, and since my old Pentium 4 3ghz was outdated anyway (a single core just doesn't cut it anymore), I just got a whole new system. If you don't game, they work fine (my 7 year old Radeon 9800 XT beats the living **** out of modern intel graphics), but if you do game, you probably could use a new system.|||They still make AGP video cards, but it might be time to consider upgrading your computer. This is the best one I can find and it's not to expensive! Good Luck!

If you read the reviews you'll see the people who bought it are getting great gaming performance for an AGP card. Even doing good with Crysis.

Althou the Nvidia 7950GT is a nice card it only runs DX9, not a factor if you plan on running XP forever but, if you're a gamer and plan on putting Vista in sometime or already have it you'll want DX10. Nvidia has kind of forgotten the AGP crowd while ATI has some decent DX10 AGP cards out.|||That's about as good as it's going to get on AGP.



EVERY card that's on the market is severely bottlenecked by the outdated AGP bus.

The fastest AGP card out there is Radeon 4650/4670. It barely meets the minimum requirements for Crysis and Crysis Warhead. But is far too slow to run Crysis 2. Assuming you have an adequate CPU, you can run Crysis at low detail and low resolution.

What's the best AGP video card for a socket A MOBO?

I have a socket A mother board (Biostar M7NCD) topped out with an Athlon 3200+. I would like to get another year or so out of it before giving it to my kids and upgrading. What is the best AGP card I can get for it without bottle-necking my system. I was looking at the 7800GS, but I read that that would be a waist of money because it is too much card for a socket A MOBO and wouldn't show any improvement from slower cards. I am looking at the 7600GT and 6800GS(they are all the same price) but I don't know if they are also too much card.|||i would suggust u get an 1950gt ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as… ) because its actually pretty cheap for 160$ and i pratically have a system like yours (+3200 and i use a x1600pro ) if your really into gaming get the 1950gt you might not see alot of improvement on lower resolutions but this will shine on anything 1280x1024+|||My personal reccomendation would be the ATI Radeon X1600 series. Just enough to push HD content with the HDMI output. HDCP compatible for vista protected content. And at a sweet $120ish price range it's solid for the money.

The best AGP card would be a Nvidia 6600GT or 6800 video card. 6800 AGP cards are a bit rare but they do exist. It's probably easier (and probably cheaper) to get a 6600GT, however. GeForce 7800 GS OC. I'm not sure the cost but I know it's right around $200.00 Ithink it's closer to $250.00 though.

The best AGP card that's still available is the Radeon HD 4670, but it's rather expensive at $125. It's also currently sold out on Newegg and Amazon.



The Radeon HD 3850 has almost identical performance (slightly better by about 1fps) but it's almost impossible to find these days.



The next-best choice (and the most reasonable one) is the Radeon HD 4650.

The best approach is to buy a new motherboard with a PCI-Express slot for about $50, along with a $75 PCI-Express card like the Radeon 4670, 5570 or GeForce GT240. That gives you better performance than even the most expensive AGP card.

i have a BFG 6200 oc right now|||then you dont need the best you need a good cheap one|||Depends on how much cash you have... I have an old Dell Precision 450 with two 3Ghz dual core Xeon Processors and 4Gigs of RAM. It previously had a Quadro 500/600 series card, that I swapped out for an ATI 4650 with 1Ghz of RAM for just 80 bucks. Now runs most games at decents settings.

What's the best AGP 4x video card currently on the market for running the Source Engine?

I have a Biostar M7VIB motherboard, and I need to upgrade it with the best possible video card currently on the market. This MoBo has an AGP 4x slot, and I'm looking for maximum performance possible with my old hardware just long enough to complete a project, because once it's complete I'll be given a Dell XPS laptop to work on from that point forward (provided my project is accepted).



So my question is two fold and please let me know to which question you're answering.



#1: What is currently the best AGP video card on the market for the Source engine (price IS NOT a factor)?



#2: What is currently the best "bang for the buck" AGP video card on the market for the Source engine (price IS a factor)?|||what source engine .. most 8X cards will work in a 4X slot .. maybe an nvidia 7900 agp ..|||This is true AGP 8x may work in 4x but some card may burn your mainboard bacause it use another power voltage :))

AGP Card 4x now only found in secondhand market and ebay. Geforce MX 440 is the last chip use AGP 4x.

I think with a AGP 4x you can't edit 2005-2006-2007 Games' file well. If you want work it that bad, i suggest you buy a new PC ( today a good and new PC isn't too expensive about 400$-500$ you can buy a good one which can use to edit 2005-2006 games' file well )

Best bang of the buck Video card i know of Source Engine is Video Card With Chip Geforce 8800 GT ( not GTS) and > 250MB DDR3 and your can buy one at 100$-250$.

If you have money PC with Dual (SLI) (Geforce 8800 GTS 512MB DDR3) x2 will let you have outstanding work. :)|||Source is pretty flexible. A friend of mine managed to get HL2:EP2 and Portal running fine on his ATI Radeon 9600Pro. Since I'd be a little worried the slot not being able to produce enough power to some of the higher end cards, The aforementioned 9600PRO would probably be your best bet in terms of reliability and performance for a decent price. The 256MB version of this card will run you from $40-$75 USD through eBay and the like, and should work fine for your system.

What's the best AGP video card that only requires a 250W Power Supply?

All AGP Video cards work well with 250W PS. Say 7300/7600/7900GT AGP or ATi X series, no problem because AGP is 1.5V graphic card. Use online conversion 1.5V to W, u will see a small of W draw to the Graphic Card.

What is the best AGP video card for playing the sims 3?

I have windows xp, and some AGP cards need vista. My system is ok, and will run the sims 3. On canurunit.com I get a pass on everything except for my video card. I was thinking about an ATI Radeon HD 4650 or 3850, but not sure if these will work with XP, and I read somewhere that I might need a new power supply to use these cards! Here are my specs ( I think )

Pentium 4 2.4 G

motherboard asus p4p 800se

1.5 GB ram

power supply antec 2650 BQE? (that's what it says on my reciept)

video card nvidia geforce fx 5200

74.5 GB hard drive w/43 GB of free space ( will have lots more when I get rid of all my sims 2 expansions and downloads )

Oh and my PC is 4 years old (if that matters)

Thanx :- )|||You can get a older GeForce 7600GS, AGP version that won't require a new power supply. Antec power supply are good, if it says 350W, then it is 350W



I would be more worried bout the Pentium 4 though, since the game is a "living world" type of game and sim 3 will be more CPU intensive then ever.



But its worth a try, just don't need to invest in such an expensive card, since you can always tune down the graphic, and you have to, given how limited your CPU is





Anything more than a GeForce 6600GT or 7600GS is an absolute waste of money as your processor will not be able to handle good graphics anyway, and you will still find yourself tuning stuff down just to make it playable.|||just get a new computer :)|||both the ati hd 4650 and 3850 will run the sims 3 perfectly not sure about the power supply though but i have the sims 3 running good on the ati x800 gto and you shouldn't have to worry about the power supply or anything. so if you don't really use your computer for anything more than the sims the x800 should work fine|||I don't think I have ever heard that video card req's windows Vista. it might be other way around. geforce 7950GT is the best you can get for agp but it's expensive you might get something like 7600gt it should be in affordable price range.|||Look Below I added something=)



I couldn't find the 4650 as a AGP card only as a PCI Express which would not work for you. So the 3850 is the way to go. I recommend you get it here:

But you could look for a better price elsewhere.



If your power supply is less than 450W then you would need to get your power supply upgraded.If you do need it, which you probably do is get an ATX power supply that has a 20 pin connector. Most power supplies already has both a 20 pin and 24 pin connector so it will work for both type of connectors on the motherboard.Look for youtube videos if you need help installing your power supply.



Remember to unplug the power to your computer before you start and also to touch a unpainted metal surface before you touch inside your computer because any static electricity on your hands can damage the computer parts. Basically unplug and unscrew your old power supply and and pay attention to which parts were plugged in and plug them into your new power supply.

Looking for the Best AGP Video Card.?

I have this pretty old system and I just wanna use it for some games like Sims 3, NBA 2K10 etc.

My motherboard is Biostar K8M800.

My question is, what AGP type video graphics card would you recommend? (for my motherboard)

Thanks|||Go for either the HD3850 or the HD4670, both cards are pretty much equal in performance with the HD4670 using a bit less power while having some extra features.



You're not gonna find much better for the aged AGP slot though, and it'll generally be more expensive (less demand, less supply, higher price)... Maybe it's time to upgrade?



Also, even if you could get a card with GDDR5 (newest memory for video cards from what I know) on that motherboard, it wouldn't matter. Graphics RAM and normal RAM are not related, unless you find a graphics card which uses normal RAM for itself.|||Nice board, and also nice onboard graphics! Upgrading won't hurt, but those are pretty nice already. :)

|||The Radeon 3850 remains the best AGP card ever made, slightly edging the newer AGP 4670 in most benchmarks, and having fewer driver issues.



However the 3850 does need a 400-450W power supply, which usually means another upgrade for people with older machines. The Radeon 4600 series cards are less power-hungry.



Your motherboard's supported RAM type and video memory type are completely independent- you can use GDDR3 graphics cards on motherboards which take DDR2, DDR, SDRAM etc- as long as card matches the slot type and you've got sufficient power.



For games like the Sims you wouldn't need a 3850, even a 3650 or 2600XT would be fine for that.... But 3850 prices have dropped so much, you may as well go big.|||BFG Nvidia 7800 GS OC was king in its day and still can cook but hard to find now maby ebay. people will tell you get a new mobo your gona bottleneck wih agp. Dont worrie about it try to find and agp card on new egg look for one with a comparable gpu to the new pcie cards. Ati card is ok but will get you low settings some med settings. I prefer Nvidia but thats me . Just try to find one with at the least a 450 mhz 500mhz better core clock and 512 mb ram ddr2 or gddr3 it will work. That will at least get med to some high settings smoothley depending on game. Hope this helped some : )

Best AGP Video card for about $60?

i need an AGP video card for a dell optiplex 270 running xp

i want to play games like l4d2 and mw2

any unusual requirements like voltage would be help full to|||I recommend this card, its 85$.



There are no cards in the 60$ range that I could recommend as they are weak and will disappoint you in game. AGP cards are all overpriced, I do not know why probably the lack of supply in the market.

Also, be aware that there are 4 "flavors" of AGP - 1X, 2X, 4X and 8X. Don't bother getting a card unless your motherboard does 8X.

Buying a VGA card. Best AGP Video card?

I need to buy a new VGA card.

I've check my motherboard, it suppors AGP video card.

I have 10 Dell Optiplex GX260 computers, please tell me what is the best AGP Video Card i can use in them.?

I bought a Lot of 10 Dell optiples GX260's on ebay, and have since deployed them in the philippines for a small internet cafe, however, the factory video card is not capable of handling much. I have read a lot about this subject, and made NO progress, can someone please tell me a MODEL NUMBER of a Video card i CAN use? My MAX power supply (PSU) is only 180W|||As I'm sure you found out in your research, the Dell Optiplex GX260 uses a proprietary power supply you can't just swap out. I can guess from the mentioning of the 180 W power supply that you have the small desktop version of this model. The extra 20 W over the small form-factor may help.

Someone earlier today asked a similar question about the small form-factor Optiplex GX270.

As I'm sure you are aware, there are no AGP cards available that will work with a 180W power supply. What I had to suggest was trying an even older PCI graphics card, something like this:

I wasn't able to find power supply requirements for either card. Since both are quite old, I can't imagine them needing much power. Also, they are low-profile cards so they will fit easily in the case. Either should be better than the integrated graphics in the systems now. At the very least, they will free the system RAM in the computer for the system instead of pulling graphics duty. This should help speed things up as well.

:P|||I need more inforation to answer this question. Do yu know what type of Motherboard you have? Assuming you have a M.B. (Motherboard) The accepts a 8X AGP card, and a P4 (or AMD equivilant) You are most likely will be looking for DDR 400 MHz RAM (2x1GB chips to mkae it 2GB total system memory this is fastest ram available for your system and ram speed plays a big part in good graphics) and a Geforce 7950 for your Video card. I have included links to both for very good prices on tigerdirect. The geforce is about $10 or $15 over what u wanted to spend but it is worth the extra money, when it comes to graphics you do not want to be penny wise pound follish. but also think of this, If you want to run future games you might not want to invest too much money into an agp card, the newer pci-E and Dual core processors are going to be an important part of being able to run newer games. more or less you have out dated technology, and while you might be able to run most games that come oout wihtin the next year, dont expect to run too much beyond that with an older setup. not efficently anyway, And when it comes to game play, having it pause, or lag as they say is no good, thats how u miss out on action and get fragged.(killed)

To answer your main question the Geforce 7950 is the highest end AGP card you can buy Hands down. Some might argue an ATI card is better or more so a better value (they are a lot cheaper, but you get what you pay for) but in the end the whole ATI or Geforce thing is like pepsi or coke, everyone has thier own opinion.





ALso Just to let you know, You can find dirt cheap Dual core (core 2 duo) or amd boards memory and processors that you can upgrade to very cheaply . Tiger direct (i use them for most of my pc buys because they are just so cheap and never have a problem if i need to return something) has barebone systems with cpu, memory, hard drive, case and power supply for as little as 300 , thats only 50 more then you are willing to spend on your video card.

I have someone with an older computer that sadly does not support PCI Express graphics cards and only has a slot for AGP. I know they are now obsolete and old technology but I was looking for the best card for its price, hopefully below $150 and most likely not as high as $200.

I recently upgraded the graphics card in this machine to 4650 from an X800GTO.



There was very little difference in performance. The CPU is most likely to bottleneck any newer AGP card. If you dont have a dual core CPU, think twice before buying these newer AGP cards.



Having much experience with AGP systems, I would say that a 2600XT is the best match for a single core AGP system. Any card higher will show no difference in performance. Definite CPU bottleneck.|||the main bulk of agp cards are from ati......the 4650 is a good card, will run wow very good.....but the 4670 are better performers and dont need a lot of power to operate....they only draw power from the agp slot.....

Not really for gaming, AGP is old, they dont make new cards for it, newer video cards use PCI-Express 2.0 x16

ATi has maintained AGP standards for (almost) all their cards up to one of the 4x cards I believe. However, the demise of the AGP slot for video/audio is fast approaching. Personally, I don't see them lasting into 2010. If you want to upgrade you can find an AMD 3.2 dual, ASUS mobo and HD3870 for probably about $400-$500 retail...just remember to take into consideration the size of your case before you buy a new mobo!
